St Bens Concert in Auckland and Music at Blockhouse Bay Baptist Community Church

3 November 2004

Congratulations to Penny and Lee Stevens and all those involved with the Concert at St Bens, Newton on Saturday. It was wonderful singing again with my old singing partners, Bill and Joyce Afeaki and to share the spotlight with Angela their daughter. Angela has just returned from pursuing a music career in The States. Her rendition of  'Panis Angelicus' accompanied by the historic organ was a highlight. Thanks too, to Peter van Gent, for providing the  sound and lighting making the concert all the more special. St Benedict's looked absolutely stunning. I am still incapacitated but was able to sing and play the guitar kneeling with my bad leg on an office chair- anything for sympathy!!!!  It was great catching up with people I hadn't seen in a while.

On Tuesday, I shared an hour or so singing my songs at the Baptist Church in Blockhouse Bay. For the past ten years, organisers have provided a concert and eats for the local elderly people. There must have been 200 people at least. They loved 'I want to sing with you, Mum, Sons of Gallipoli, Awesome God and of course 'You raise me up'.  I  was so affirmed and blessed by all the conversations after the concert. Congratulations to Matt Duxfield and all your helpers in bringing so much joy into peoples lives. It was wonderful to be with you all.
