A Noble Work (Songs of love and mercy)

11 August 2014

I am pleased to announce that my new album 'A noble work' (songs of love and mercy) is now available from me on this site.

The album comprises 12 songs, 7 original and 5 covers. The title track was inspired by a Filipina woman I met in Davao while visiting our novices in 2013. She held her son in her arms. He was suffering from a fever. Seeing her concern, I commented that she was like mothers all over the world. I was taken by her response, 'it's an noble work'.

The album features two songs with a number of priest friends singing with me and the regular cantor at St Patrick's Cathedral. I love the choral sound. The songs are 'Be thou my vision' and a setting to 'Glory to God', I have entitled 'Maryknoll Gloria'.

Given that it is no surprise I love to sing and share my songs, 'How can I keep from singing?' is particularly apt to include on this collection. The other covers are 'As a deer' and the toe tapping Anne Murray hit 'Put your hand in the hand' plus 'Make me a channel of your peace' as a salute to Pope Francis.

The lyrics of my original songs can be downloaded under the lyrics section on this site.
