8 August 2003

A couple of days ago I returned from the Emerald Isle. What a huge trip. It was great to catch up with all my old friends in Co. Cork and to make some new ones. Thanks to Don and Vicky Day for their kind invitation. What a great time we had at Clonmeen House and it was a delight to meet your family and friends. Catherine and Gerry O'Leary extended the warmth of their hospitality and Mons Dennis O'Callaghan of Mallow introduced me to the phrase and reality of the 'music of what happens'. You are an inspiration, Dennis. It was great to meet Fr Liam Lawton of Carlow, musician and recording artist. I wish you were closer, Liam. We could continue the conversation. Thanks for giving of your time and experience.

I am still in the throws of jet lag but will endeavour to sing a few songs at Wellington Irish Society tomorrow. They are having a big night celebrating Celtic music and culture.
