29 March 2003

I have been a little slack lately in keeping up with the diary. In fact, I have been home in NZ for almost a Month. Sorry about that. Some of you may have thought I was still out and about on the planet somewhere.

I arrived in Perth after a huge flight from Istanbul on the 18th of Feb. I was met at the airport by Sr Joan Carville, a Dominican sister who worked with us as Seminarians almost 20 years ago in NZ. It was great to catch up with her and her friends.

Perth is a beautiful city and the warmth was delightful after all the cold in the Northern Hemisphere. I took a tour up to the Pinnacles, north of Perth and spent two nights at the beach, south of Perth at a place run by the John of God sisters. I walked across a sand bar, sometimes waist deep to Penquin Island, a bird sanctuary. It was incredible to be amongst so much bird life. The thought of Alfred Hitchcock crossed my mind.

I arrived home to Auckland on the morning of March the 1st. My sister and brother-in-law were at the airport to meet me and Mum and others in the family arrived in Auckland later in the day. It was great to see everyone.

It has been brilliant weather since my return. I arrived in Wellington on the 12th. It has been sunny ever since. In fact the land around here needs rain.

I am excited about recording a new CD in Auckland this coming week. Watch this space. A number of the songs have come out of my time away.

Cheers everyone!!!!
