10 October 2002

It is hard to believe that I have been in Chicago for over two weeks. The weather has been pretty marvellous. However, the big chill is not far off- a slight taste the other day. I hope all you lot back home are enjoying the Spring. I was sorry to hear the Warriors lost the final. This coming Saturday, I am off to the my first American football game at Notre Dame University. There is nothing quite like it around these parts they say.
The Sabbatical programme is going well- Moral Theology, Ecclesiology, Mariology, Communication, and Inculturation just a few of the areas covered so far. There is a Kiwi Columban here with me- Michael Gormley- he is great moral support. Sr Judith Moroney from Wellington is on the campus too and I assisted her in flying the flag for New Zealand at a presentation she gave recently to her group members. We used God of our Island Home and Pokarekare ana. A Marist brother from Samoa demonstrated a Haka- a few sisters in the front row almost had heart attacks.
